October 8, 2018

It has been a wet and wild few months. We survived a hurricane and adopted another animal, Stormie, our indoor kitten that has made a fun addition to the farm. So far he has made fast friends with Daisy and loves Grandmoms’ lap!

My big news is that I received the NC Professional Grant for Artists of 1500$. This money helped to by a bigger kiln which I am making large platters, and plates to go with my dishes and hopefully my woven bowl design which I love to make.

I also added a new shop, Morgans on Main in Benson, NC. I think my pottery fits well in her shop so stop in to see my display. I have put my large pumpkin cookie jars in Wake Forest and a few in Oak City Collection in Smithfield, plus my ghosts. I made tiny ghosts this year on strings that are very cute.

Sadly my shop in New Bern closed. New Bern was hit very hard by Hurricane Florence and all our prayers are needed for them as they clean up this horrible mess Mother Nature left them.

If you see anything you like on my facebook or Instagram let me know. Large pieces are expensive to ship but I will do what I can to see about getting you something you like.

My email it rogersmarsha18@gmail.com

I will be in New Bern, Boston and Colorado in November so I’m working hard to get all my Xmas stuff made and out to my shops by the end of October. Happy Fall Everyone!

August 3, 2018

I was hoping to be able to tell everyone good news about the NC Visual Artist Grant but the official news will not be out until sometime in August. Im still waiting, and I don't know when in August. This grant would help me purchase a larger kiln, which I went ahead bought anyway. I am making large pieces for my dish-ware series and outdoor sculpture items.

I'm excited about my shop in Wilmington, NC.. Allie Bryand is a great artist and runs a fun shop with wonderful art that my "baby head" sculptures, dream boxes and chickens fit right in. I have made some small magnets and other pieces that I hope with appeal to her customers.

So, get your rubber boots on, and your rain coats ready as we are very wet at Magnolia Farm! We had a fun trip to the beach but now its time to get some clay work done and make those ghosts, and Christmas ornaments for the fall! ( Michaels and Hobby Lobby has Halloween out as my granddaughter pointed out to me)

June 28, 2018

July is almost here and I am back from a wonderful week at the beach with my daughter-in-law and the twins, who are 9, the perfect age for swimming and gift shopping! I left a lot of projects in the studio to finish so it was easy to get back in the swing of things! ( If you were wondering were my son was, he is not a beach person so he went to Boulder, Co. to trout fish with his brother!)

I will post pictures of new pottery on the other pages of my website. My chickens are smaller, with a new design that I love. They hang and have clay beads below that will swing in the wind! You can hang them inside or on a porch or outdoors.

My big pieces will be in Wilmington, NC at Bryant Gallery, on Front Street. Allie Bryant has a new, bigger store with a beautiful selection of artists and I'm proud  to be in her shop.

Don't forget to go to Four Oaks,NC on Main Street. You will love Standfields General Store. He has opened the shop next-door and Scott is an avid collector of "stuff" ( I heard he has 6 huge trailers full of stuff!) that is fun to look through. You can get a drink and a moon pie while you shop!!

Happy July 4th everyone! And as they say here in Johnston County " Have a Blessed Day"

Welcome to Back Porch Pottery

Hi! So right now I am putting together some pottery and art to bring to DeWaynes in Smithfield NC for the art in the Garden Sale.

This is sponsored by the Johnston County Art Council and DeWaynes. It is to celebrate Spring ! ( We have had snow and 34 degree weather today!) My shoulder is healing- I had rotator cuff surgery 6 weeks ago- and I am out of the sling so I am going

to try hand building soon . I am excited to try new things with the "baby heads" , maybe planters and wall sculptures.  Hope you check back

to my website as I plan to change out my pictures when I get new pottery made. Have a good week-

Cheers- Marsha
